Aliasing vs Anti-Aliasing

Now that I have understood the conceptual difference between aliasing and anti-aliasing, I want to make sure that I implement it correctly. In the advanced settings of PS, there is an option to select anti-alias image boundary (as default, it is selected). I assume that is the one and only way to decide on the aliasing/anti aliasing, right? Also, would you recommend doing an aliased print for rectilinear shape and the anti aliased for a curvilinear one?
